Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) is a state-funded program that gives your child a full prekindergarten education at no cost. Above & Beyond offers both the free half-day VPK and a full-day extended option for families who need a complete school-day program.
3 hours of VPK per day, state-funded for all eligible Florida 4-year-olds. Use your VPK certificate — no tuition.
Need a complete school day? Add before- and after-VPK care for a full-day program that works with your schedule.
Children who attend high-quality VPK programs outperform their peers in reading and math through third grade - not just at kindergarten entry.

VPK Curriculum
Our VPK program is aligned to all 5 Florida VPK Education Standards – then we go further. Here is what builds inside every child across the year.
Every letter name, every sound, and the ability to blend consonant-vowel-consonant words into actual reading. Decoding becomes real this year.
Daily exposure to high-frequency sight words so children begin reading sentences fluently — building the bridge between sounding out and reading with confidence.
From letter formation to composing sentences with a beginning, middle, and end. Children leave VPK with the ability to communicate ideas in writing.
Counting 0 to 20, recognizing and creating patterns, measuring with nonstandard units, and exploring basic geometric shapes through hands-on math centers.
Main idea, character analysis, setting identification, and story retelling. Children discuss what they read with depth — building the thinking skills that fuel academic success.
Hands-on STEM explorations, community and citizenship concepts, and scientific thinking — children learn to ask questions and investigate their world like real scientists.
Attention span, line skills, raising hands, following multi-step directions, managing transitions — the invisible skills that determine how quickly children thrive in kindergarten.
Community concepts, collaborative problem-solving, and learning how to be a respectful, contributing member of a group — foundational skills for every year that follows.
Frog Street VPK Curriculum
Frog Street’s VPK-aligned curriculum is the engine behind every lesson. It ensures every child is systematically building the skills kindergarten teachers expect – and beyond.
Aligned precisely to Florida VPK standards. Each letter sound is introduced, practiced, and applied in sequence - no gaps, no guessing. By May, every child can blend and decode simple words.
Scaffolded independence - from guided sentence frames to free composition. Children learn to organize thoughts, form letters correctly, and express ideas with growing confidence.
Small-group instruction targeted to each child's individual readiness level. No one is lost in the crowd and no one is held back - every child is exactly where they need to be.
Concrete manipulatives lead to abstract understanding. Children move from counting blocks to writing equations - building the mathematical reasoning kindergarten demands.
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math woven together in hands-on explorations. Children ask questions, test ideas, and discover answers - developing a love of learning through doing.
We review a comprehensive kindergarten readiness checklist with every family throughout the year - not just at the end. You always know exactly where your child stands and what comes next.
We are an approved VPK provider with the Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County. When your child attends VPK at Above & Beyond, the state pays for the program you provide the VPK Certificate of Eligibility, and we handle the rest.
VPK at Above & Beyond is not one-size-fits-all. Here is how we build skills deliberately across the full school year.
Join us as we celebrate our VPK graduates and the incredible growth they have made this year. This special day honors their learning, confidence, friendships, and readiness for kindergarten.

How VPK Works
VPK enrollment is simple. Here are the four steps to secure your child’s place in our VPK classroom – at no cost to your family.
Your child must be born on or before September 1 of the current school year and live in Florida. For 2026–27, children born between September 2, 2021 and September 1, 2022 qualify.
Create an account on the Florida Early Learning Family Portal and complete the VPK application. You will receive a VPK Certificate of Eligibility.
Select Above & Beyond Preschool as your VPK provider. Contact the ELC Palm Beach County CCR&R at (561) 514-3300 for support choosing a provider. We are on the approved list.
Bring your VPK Certificate to our school, complete enrollment, and your child is set. No registration fee. No hidden costs. Just an exceptional year of learning ahead.
Financial Options
Between free VPK, ELC School Readiness assistance, and our waived registration fee, quality early education is within reach for every family we serve.
State-funded for 3 hours per day at no cost to your family. All eligible Florida 4-year-olds qualify — income is not a factor. Your VPK certificate covers the program entirely.
If your child needs extended full-day care beyond the free VPK hours, ELC School Readiness assistance can cover up to 85% of the cost. Contact the ELC at (561) 514-3300 to apply.
We have completely waived our registration fee for VPK enrollment. Walk in with your VPK certificate and there is nothing extra to pay to get your child started on the best year of their early education.
Everything Royal Palm Beach families ask us about VPK, tuition, schedules, and what sets our program apart.
Yes — VPK is 100% state-funded for the standard half-day program. There is no tuition, no registration fee at Above & Beyond, and no income requirement. The Florida Division of Early Learning pays approved VPK providers directly. Your only obligation is to obtain a VPK Certificate of Eligibility through the Florida Early Learning Family Portal and submit it to us before your child starts.
Half-day VPK covers approximately 3 hours of instruction per day — fully state-funded at no cost. For families who need a full school day, we offer extended before- and after-VPK care as a paid add-on. ELC School Readiness assistance may cover up to 85% of that extended care cost for qualifying families. Call us at (561) 793-6533 and we will walk you through the exact options and pricing.
Create an account on the Florida Early Learning Family Portal at familyservices.floridaearlylearning.com, complete the VPK application, and select a VPK provider. You will receive a VPK Certificate of Eligibility once approved. If you need help, call the Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County’s CCR&R team at (561) 514-3300 — they can guide you through every step in English, Spanish, and Creole.
For the 2026–27 school year, your child must be born between September 2, 2021 and September 1, 2022. This means they will be 4 years old by September 1, 2026 and reside in Florida. If your child falls outside this window, our Pre-K 4 program serves the same age group with an equally rigorous curriculum — call us to discuss which program fits your child’s exact birthdate.
Three things set us apart. First, we hold both Gold Seal Quality Care certification and APPLE Accreditation — a combination no other provider on Camellia Drive holds. Second, we use the Frog Street VPK curriculum exclusively, which is specifically engineered around Florida VPK Education Standards. Third, our class sizes are intentionally small so every child receives individual attention. We do not just meet VPK requirements — we exceed them.
VPK and Pre-K 4 serve overlapping ages but have a key difference: VPK is the official state-funded program administered through the ELC, while Pre-K 4 is our private pre-kindergarten classroom. If your child meets the VPK age eligibility, they can attend VPK at no cost and we encourage it. If they are slightly younger or have developmental needs that benefit from an extra year before VPK, our Pre-K 4 program builds the same skills with the same Frog Street curriculum. Call us — we are happy to help you choose.
Constantly. We use the ProCare app to send daily updates, activity reports, and photos directly to your phone. We review a comprehensive kindergarten readiness checklist with every VPK family throughout the year — not just at May conferences — so you always know exactly where your child stands. Our teachers are also available for conversations at drop-off, pickup, or by appointment whenever you have questions.
To complete VPK enrollment you will need: (1) your child’s VPK Certificate of Eligibility from the Family Portal, (2) a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport, (3) proof of Florida residency such as a utility bill or lease agreement, and (4) up-to-date immunization records. Our front desk team — including Ms. Karla — will walk you through each document at your enrollment visit and make the process as smooth as possible.
VPK is not just about checking a box — it is about setting a trajectory. Your child only gets one VPK year. Make it count.
